Me and my babies.

Hello, I’m Lucy, wife and mother of two daughters. We live in the inner southern suburbs of Adelaide, South Australia. My husband is a tradesman and we run a very busy family business.

I was raised by a single mum, in a cattle farming family in the south east of South Australia. We lived right on the beach front and as children we spent all our spare time out of school at our family farm. Mum was fortunate enough to stay home and care for my sister and I full-time. My memories of my early childhood are of exploring, endless joyful playing and cuddles. I reflect on this now and hope to create similar experiences for my children. Later, as a teenager I went quite astray and I hope I can use my experience to become a better parent as my children get older.

My love of girly things lead me to pursue beauty in the big smoke, Adelaide (or barely any smoke compared to most cities). I studied a Diploma of La Moda (The Fashion) which consisted of makeup, hair and styling and this lead to a great career in Makeup Artistry. I worked for some of the major cosmetic houses and ended up in my dream job, a State Sales Manager for Napoleon Perdis (Australia’s largest cosmetic company). I was a young professional with the option to advance further in my career.

Life took a swift turn though, when I made the decision to give up my career and focus on family life. I guess you might say I have traditional values as a result of being my Grandparents Granddaughter. I adore my grandparents and I’m grateful that I have been strongly influenced by them. They run a large scale family business and work very hard. My Nanna is tireless and always helping every family member. She is like mother hen and of course like all Nannas she loves babies.  Maybe I was following in their footsteps and it wasn’t long into my 20’s and I had locked in a good man to marry then got pregnant as soon as I could.

Now some years later I have settled into family life (not without some hurdles to overcome which I will discuss in posts to come). Now a full time mum and support to my husband and our business I have moved my focus onto how to best manage our family life, how to make the most of it, get time for myself and enjoy it, so that perhaps we could have a bigger family.

I believe in truthfulness, fairness, I’m frank, and a realist. Most of all a declared control freak. My husband would say I’m temperamental and I don’t particularly like cooking. I enjoy humour, babies, beauty, fitness and beautiful things in general.

I have a vision of a big-ish family but I am somewhat selfish, and this motherhood thing is hard work! My blog is about motherhood and specifically how to create order in your home to make the most of your children’s younger years and to make it easier! If we can make it easier then perhaps we would consider a bigger family, or for some just enjoy this time with our kids that bit more. I hope I can help and inspire other mothers out there.

I should note I have no training in childcare whatsoever but I have a strong interest on the subject and have read many books, constantly searching for answers to make motherhood easier, more enjoyable and this, what I share on my blog is what I’ve learnt…

Thank you so much for taking an interest and reading.

xx

  1. Lucy, motherhood is less about qualifications and more about love. Your Mum is a wonderful example of what can be achieved with abundant love. You’ve made a wonderful choice, and the years to come will demonstrate unequivocally, what an important role you have and what a difference you can make in the lives of your children, by being a good Mum. You’ll make mistakes, we all do. But your reward will be when your children reach adult life as good and decent human beings, who will one day look at you and realise the many sacrifices you’ve made to get them to where they are. I’m really looking forward to following your journey. Love, Mimi xxx
